The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has a specification that allows the use of up to 7% recycled asphalt shingles (RAS), manufacturers' or tear-off, of the total weight of the hot-mix asphalt (HMA).  MoDOT has been using RAS in HMA applications since 2003.  In 2005, MoDOT completed laboratory research on tear-off RAS in HMA in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the University of Minnesota, Civil Engineering Laboratory (see Missouri Research Projects below).  Missouri currently has three shingle recycling facilities.
